Padmini Sirish is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and a dedicated scientist. Her journey in classical dance commenced at the age of four-and-a-half, under the formal training of Guru Narmada. She performed her arangetram three years later, which garnered critical acclaim. Over the past decade, Padmini Sirish has showcased her talent at various multicultural festivals across India and the United States, demonstrating her commitment to the art form. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Padmini Sirish has a distinguished academic and scientific career. She earned a Gold Medal in her Master of Science degree in Cytogenetics from Bangalore University. Furthering her scientific endeavors, she obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology from the University of California, Davis. Currently, she serves as Faculty at the University of California, Davis, where she is actively involved in scientific research and has numerous publications to her credit. Her research focuses on developing novel therapies for heart failure, particularly cardiac regenerative therapy using stem cells, and identifying new therapeutic targets in inflammatory pathways for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). To foster the rich tradition of Bharatanatyam and mentor aspiring dancers, Padmini Sirish established Aradhana Arts in Folsom, California. Through this institution, she aims to propagate the classical dance form and nurture the next generation of Bharatanatyam artists. Her contributions in both the arts and sciences have been recognized with several accolades. In her dance career, she was awarded the Cultural Talent Search Scholarship and various other awards for her performances. In her scientific field, she received the Loren D Carlson Award in Physiology from UC Davis in 2011, the Department of Internal Medicine Outstanding Contribution to Science Award from UC Davis in 2019, and the Department of Internal Medicine Chair's Research Award from UC Davis in 2023.
