🪔 About

Parvati Nair is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and educator, celebrated for her profound command over Bharatanatyam and Mohini Attam, alongside her contributions to Tagore ballets. Her foundational training was meticulously acquired at prestigious Indian institutions such as Kalamandalam, Natyalaya, and Santi Niketan, which are renowned centers for classical arts. In Bharatanatyam, she received rigorous instruction from eminent Gurus including Kittappa Pilli, the legendary Vyjayantimala Bali, and Prakash Yaddugudde of Bhavan. Her expertise in Mohini Attam was cultivated under the guidance of revered masters Kalamandalam Thankamani Kutty and the late Kalamandalam Kalyani Kutti Amma. This comprehensive training provided her with a deep understanding of the nuances and traditions of these classical forms. Additionally, Parvati Nair's artistic repertoire is enhanced by her training in dramatics and stagecraft, enabling her to bring a unique expressive quality and theatrical depth to her performances and choreographies. Since her move to the United Kingdom in 1988, Parvati Nair has been a pivotal figure in promoting Indian classical dance across Europe. She has dedicated herself to teaching Bharatanatyam and has been associated with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in London, an institution known for its cultural initiatives. Under the auspices of the Bhavan and through her independent ventures, she has extensively performed, choreographed, and directed a multitude of dance productions. Her commitment to cultural exchange is evident in the numerous workshops she has conducted throughout the UK and various European nations, aiming to educate and inspire new generations and diverse audiences. Her active participation in major national festivals further highlights her significant role in the global Indian classical dance community, establishing her as a respected artist and educator.
