🪔 About

Patricia Salgado is an Argentinean-born Odissi dancer and educator, currently based in Barcelona, Spain, who has significantly contributed to the promotion of Indian classical arts in Europe and Latin America. She co-founded "Güngur, Indian Fine Arts" with her sister Natalia Salgado in 2010, an institution with branches in Barcelona and Buenos Aires dedicated to teaching and promoting various Indian classical dance forms, music, yoga, and Ayurveda. Salgado's journey into Indian classical dance began in 2000 after she assisted in a performance and met Kuchipudi exponent Guru Ranga Vivekanda. She later discovered Odissi through a video of Smt. Sujata Mohapatra and pursued intensive training at the Konark Natya Mandap Gurukul in Odisha, India. Her esteemed gurus include Padmashree Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, Guru Sri Manoranjan Pradhan, and Guru Lingaraj Swain, with whom she continues to train regularly in India. As a performer, Salgado has presented Odissi duets, such as one with Prasanta Kumar Sahoo during a GüngurBcn trip to India in 2017. She is also an active teacher, conducting Odissi masterclasses and overseeing the Barcelona branch of Güngur, where she manages its visual and advertising aspects. Beyond dance, Salgado, with a background in fashion design, created "Sundar," a collection of clothing inspired by Indian classical dances.
