Pavitra Krishnan is the artistic director and founder of Priya Dance Academy, where she serves as a dedicated dance teacher, performer, and choreographer of Bharatanatyam. Her journey in music and dance has been an integral part of her life, commencing at the age of four, which laid the foundation for her extensive training. Pavitra received her foundational dance training under the esteemed guidance of Guru Smt. Komalavalli Mani. Guru Komalavalli Mani hails from a distinguished lineage of great Gurus, having been trained by Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India, through the traditional Guru Shishya Parampara. Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai himself was a descendant of the renowned Thanjavur Quartet, highlighting the rich heritage of Pavitra Krishnan's dance lineage. In addition to her Bharatanatyam expertise, Pavitra Krishnan also received training in Carnatic classical vocal music under Smt. Lakshmi, an artist graded 'A' by All India Radio and a regular performer in Chennai's music circles. Throughout her career, Pavitra Krishnan has graced numerous prestigious venues with her performances, both in India and the USA. She has been an integral part of several major dance productions led by senior gurus, including Kalaimamani Sri. Madurai R Muralidharan and Smt. Kalamandalam Latha. Before relocating to the USA, she also performed on Indian National television, showcasing her talent to a wider audience. Pavitra Krishnan is recognized for her notable achievements, holding two record credits from the Guinness Book of World Records and one from the Asia Book of World Records. As the artistic director of Priya Dance Academy, she is committed to imparting knowledge, grace, crisp footwork, and beauty of expression to her students, nurturing the next generation of Bharatanatyam dancers. The academy offers comprehensive training in all aspects of Bharatanatyam, with classes held in Torrance and Irvine, USA. The academy aims to inspire a love of dance and enable students to express their thoughts, beliefs, and emotions through this ancient art form. Students of Priya Dance Academy include Mukta Lotlikar, Sahasra Gujulla (Arangetram 2025), Haarika Duvvuri, and Prisha Girish (Arangetram 2024).
