Perrine Legoullon is a French national and a dedicated practitioner of Indian classical dance, specializing in Odissi and Sattriya. She initially trained in Odissi before moving to India in 2018, after completing her Master's degree, to further immerse herself in Indian classical dance. Based in Delhi, she undertook formal training in Sattriya under Adhyapika Meenakshi Medhi, with whom she completed her "Gunin." Her introduction to Sattriya occurred in Paris, where she witnessed a performance by the renowned exponent Adhyapak Bhabananda Borbayan. Legoullon regularly travels to Assam to maintain a connection with the living context of the Sattriya tradition. She is married to Partha Pratim Hazarika, who is also a Sattriya dancer. Perrine Legoullon is recognized as a prominent global practitioner and ambassador for Sattriya dance, with aspirations to organize workshops and performances across Europe to introduce wider audiences to this art form. She emphasizes that mastering Sattriya involves a deep understanding of Assamese culture, language, devotional texts, and the philosophical foundations of Bhakti. She has also observed a growing interest in Sattriya among young practitioners in Assam.
