Piyush Chauhan is a prominent Indian classical Kathak dancer, deeply rooted in the Jaipur Gharana tradition. Born in New Delhi to Tabla player Shri Lalit Chauhan, Piyush began his musical journey by learning Tabla from his father. He later pursued formal Kathak training at the prestigious Kathak Kendra, the National Institute of Kathak Dance in Delhi, under the tutelage of renowned Guru Shri Rajendra Gangani. His dance style is characterized by the intricate footwork and powerful pirouettes that are hallmarks of the Jaipur tradition. Chauhan has established himself as a senior dancer with the esteemed Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company. He frequently collaborates with Preeti Sharma, and their joint performances are widely recognized as "Piyush-Preeti." His talent gained broader public attention through his appearances as a finalist on popular television reality shows, including India's Got Talent Season 6 and Dance Plus Season 1. Throughout his career, Piyush Chauhan has had the privilege of working with legendary figures in Indian classical dance, such as Pandit Birju Maharaj, Kumudini Lakhia, Geetanjali Lal, and Shri Jai Kishen Maharaj. He is a recipient of a Merit Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, awarded in 2012-2013, acknowledging his artistic excellence. Beyond performing, Chauhan is dedicated to teaching and nurturing new talent. He leads the International Training Program (ITP) and conducts virtual workshops, including for the Sanjukta Sinha Dance Company. He is also the founder of "Kathak Ignites," an institution that recently opened a new branch in Shimla. Piyush Chauhan regularly performs at major festivals, such as the 36th Kathak Mahotsav organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Swara Samrat Festival, showcasing his artistry on national and international stages, including the Apollo Theater in London.
