🪔 About

Prabha Raghavan is the Founder and Artistic Director of Sri Sanskriti Dance Academy, where she has been teaching and performing the art of Bharatanatyam for over four decades. Her initial training in classical dance began at the age of four under her mother, Smt. Jayalakshmi Subramanian. She further honed her skills in the Tanjavur style, training under Kalaimamani Guru Mahalingam Pillai at the prestigious Sri Raja Rajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir in Mumbai, India. Raghavan has also participated in intensive workshops and training sessions with renowned artists such as Shri C.V. Chandrashekar and Smt. Kalanidhi Narayan. An acclaimed artiste, Prabha Raghavan has performed extensively as a soloist and in group recitals across India, the Middle East (including Bahrain), and Canada. She is particularly recognized for her refined abhinaya (expressive acting), natural grace, and finesse, as well as her strong sense of rhythm and posture-perfect renditions. Beyond dance, she also trained in Carnatic music and played the Veena for many years. Raghavan has conducted numerous lecture demonstrations for various institutions in both India and Canada and has served as a judge for dance and music competitions across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Through Sri Sanskriti Dance Academy, which she established around 2005, Prabha Raghavan has nurtured hundreds of students, successfully launching many senior students through their solo debuts (Arangetrams). She is also known for presenting many successful mega dance productions and shows, showcasing her exceptional choreography and strong belief in classical tradition. Awards & Honours: Singara Mani (1984).
