Pradeep Kumar Basa is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in the Seraikela style of Chhau. Born on November 21, 1987, in Seraikela, he received his foundational training at the Rajkiya Chhau Nritya Kala Academy in Seraikela under the tutelage of Guru Tapan Kumar Pattanaik and Vijay Kumar Sahu. He also benefited from the guidance of the late Padma Shri Makardhwaj Daroga. Currently, Basa continues his advanced studies at the Trinetra Chhau Dance Centre, where he is a student of Padma Shri Pandit Gopal Prasad Dubey. His talent has been recognized with significant accolades, including the Junior Fellowship Award for 2019-2020, bestowed by the Center for Cultural Resources and Training and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Earlier, he was a recipient of the Young Talent National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for the Seraikela style of Chhau Dance during the period 2010-2012. Pradeep Kumar Basa has performed Chhau dance on numerous major stages across India and internationally, with performances in cities such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Hamilton in New Zealand, Dhaka in Bangladesh, and Lisbon, Elvira, Albufeira, and Setubal in Portugal. Among his repertoire, the Peacock dance is noted as his favorite. Awards & Honours: Junior Fellowship Award (2019), Young Talent National Scholarship (2010).
