🪔 About

Preeti Sunderajan is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, creative movement expert, educator, and entrepreneur, primarily based in Bangalore, India. She is classically trained in Bharatanatyam, and also proficient in Contemporary dance, Chau, Folk Theatre, and Kalaripayattu, in addition to being a yoga practitioner. Her performing career spans over three decades, during which she has graced prestigious festivals across India, the USA, the UK, and Australia. Sunderajan's journey in dance evolved from a performer to a significant figure in dance education. In 2004, she founded the Shiri Dance Company, a Bangalore-based group of contemporary dancers dedicated to creating progressive and innovative pieces. As the artistic director, she led projects such as "Dance and the City," which began in 2007, involving research into urban experiences to develop new dance works. Recognizing the need for a sustainable career in performing arts and the potential of dance in education, Sunderajan ventured into developing creative movement programs. She created the "Body Talk" module, which integrates dance and creative movement to foster self-expression and creative thinking in children. By 2013, this program was implemented as a subject in over eight schools in Bangalore, reaching more than 500 children aged 3 to 13. In 2014, Preeti Sunderajan joined FitKids, Bengaluru, as the CEO of GAIT (Grooming Artistic Innovation and Talent). Under her leadership, GAIT has grown to become the largest and first-ever Creative Movement in Education program across schools in India. Her work emphasizes the importance of creative movement in holistic child development, promoting freedom of thought and original expression beyond conventional academic structures. She is considered a good Bharatanatyam dancer and is deeply involved in dance education, collaborating with international trainers to bring about positive results in schools.
