Preetisha Mohapatra is a prominent Indian classical Odissi dancer, representing the third generation of the illustrious Mohapatra family, renowned for its significant contributions to Odissi dance. Born in 1999, she is the granddaughter of the legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, the principal architect of Odissi dance, and the daughter of leading exponents Guru Ratikant Mohapatra and Sujata Mohapatra. Preetisha began her formal training in Odissi at an early age under the direct tutelage of her grandfather. She subsequently underwent rigorous training from her parents at Srjan Odissi Nrityabasa in Bhubaneswar, where she continues to hone her art. Preetisha debuted as a soloist in 2005, at the age of six, performing her grandfather's 'Ganesh Vandana'. Since then, she has established herself as an accomplished performer, gracing numerous prestigious dance festivals both in India and internationally. Her performances include the Odissi International Festival, Puri Beach Festival, Konark Festival, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award Festival, Khajuraho Festival of Dance, and the India Festival in Korea. She is a vital member of the Srjan ensemble and also performs extensively as a soloist, known for her dedication to the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Gharana. Beyond her performance career, Preetisha is committed to perpetuating the legacy of Odissi. She serves as a senior repertoire member and teacher at Srjan in Bhubaneswar, a premier Odissi training institution founded by her grandfather. She also founded the Nrityashala School Of Odissi Dance By Preeti Mohapatra in Kondapur, Hyderabad, further expanding her teaching outreach. Academically, she pursued a Master's Degree in commerce at Birla Global University and is currently undertaking a Master's in performing arts at Sri Sri University. Preetisha Mohapatra is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Odissi dance for future generations.
