Puja Unni is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and teacher specializing in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam. Hailing from Palakkad, Kerala, India, she commenced her formal Bharatanatyam training at the tender age of three. She has accumulated over 17 years of experience in the field, including more than six years of intensive training under the tutelage of Shri RLV TK Anil Kumar for Bharatanatyam. Further expanding her artistic repertoire, she also trains in Kuchipudi under Smt. Methil Devika and Mohiniyattam under Padmashree Kalamandalam Kshemavathy. After completing her schooling and achieving accolades in the UAE, Unni relocated to Thrissur, Kerala, to pursue higher education and deepen her knowledge under eminent gurus. Throughout her career, Puja Unni has garnered several recognitions for her talent. She was adjudged the best classical dancer at Vimala College Thrissur for two consecutive years and was honored as the Best Performer by ADMS Dubai. She also holds the prestigious title of Kalathilakam. Her performances have graced over a hundred stages by the age of twenty, including a notable appearance at the Swaralaya Palakkad when she was just fourteen. Unni has showcased her artistry internationally, performing at the World Dance Day Celebrations in Dubai in both 2003 and 2005, and at the Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Awards in 2005. Among her awards are the Sreedevi Memorial Award in 2009 and the title of Best Female Dancer at "best of the best season 3." She was also adorned with the "Natyasaradhi" title at the 2nd International Dance Festival held in Vishakhapatnam. Beyond performing, Unni has contributed to the film industry as an Assistant Choreographer for the Malayalam movie 'Karmayogi'. Puja Unni is the founder and head of Spanda, a dance institution based in Dubai, UAE, where she imparts her knowledge and passion for classical dance. She is recognized as a brilliant choreographer, with her institution actively contributing to the cultural landscape of Dubai.
