Purbasha Bharadwaj is an emerging Indian classical dancer specializing in Sattriya, a major classical dance form originating from Assam, India. She is a dedicated disciple of the esteemed Guru Naren Chandra Baruah, under whose tutelage she has honed her skills in this devotional dance tradition. Bharadwaj has pursued formal education in dance, having earned a Visharad (Gunin) degree in Sattriya Dance. Her academic background also includes studies at Gauhati University and B Borooah College, further enriching her understanding and practice of the art form. Her commitment to Sattriya dance is evident through her active participation in significant cultural events. In December 2022, Purbasha Bharadwaj performed at the 'Nrityaparva: Festival of Sattriya Dances' held in Guwahati, an event supported by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. During this festival, she presented an 'Iswar Vandana' with a traditional tune and 'Vishama taal', followed by the 'Ramdani of Suddha Chali', performing alongside fellow disciples Dimee Medhi and Sanskrita Baruah. Her performances are characterized by the traditional attire, including the 'ghuri' (ghagra). Bharadwaj is also associated with the Srimanta Shankar Academy in Dispur, indicating her involvement in the institutional promotion and teaching of Sattriya dance. As a 'Digital creator', she actively shares her passion for dance online, contributing to the wider appreciation and accessibility of Sattriya.
