Rahul Roy is an accomplished Odissi dancer hailing from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India. He is a dedicated and senior disciple of Dr. Pompi Paul, under whose tutelage he has rigorously trained for fifteen years, embodying his guru's lineage with reverence and precision. Roy's artistic journey is deeply rooted in both scholarship and artistry; he holds a Master's in History from Rabindra Bharati University and a Diploma in Elementary Education, reflecting a harmonious blend of intellect and intuition in his dance. As a Doordarshan-graded artiste, Rahul Roy has garnered significant recognition within the Indian classical dance fraternity. He is an integral part of Kalpodip, where he serves as an instructor, contributing to the propagation of Odissi. His pursuit of artistic excellence is continuous, having enriched his dance vocabulary through workshops with esteemed luminaries such as Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, Aloka Kanungo, and Poushali Mukherjee & Kaustavi Sarkar. Rahul Roy's performances, characterized by their quiet radiance, grace, and storytelling soul, unfold like living prayers on stage. He has graced numerous revered platforms, both in solo and duet presentations, at national and international festivals. Notable appearances include the International Odissi Dance Festival in Bhubaneswar in 2023, the Nritya Ragini International Dance Festival, International Museum Day, and the Parampara Festival. His ensemble work with Kalpodip has taken him across India to events such as the Ramayani Conclave in Ayodhya, IIDF- Hyderabad, Uday Shankar Dance Festival 2017, and the Kalpodip Festival in Jalpaiguri (2012–2022), among others. His artistry is a testament to his discipline, devotion, and the lyrical power of Odissi, carrying its flame into the future with grace and resilience.
