Ramya Venkataraman is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam and Bharatanrityam. She is a senior disciple of Padmabhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, under whose tutelage she has trained for over two decades. Ramya completed her arangetram in September 2009, marking her debut under the auspices of Nrithyodaya, the esteemed dance school founded by Director K. Subrahmanyam. Throughout her career, Ramya has established herself as a professional Bharatanrityam artist, teacher, yoga trainer, and movement therapy facilitator. She has graced numerous leading stages and 'Sabhas' across India with her solo performances and has also participated in her Guru's productions both nationally and internationally. Her expertise extends to the 108 Karanas, a specialization for which she was honored with the 'Nritya Sali' title from Nrithyodaya. Ramya Venkataraman has received significant national recognition for her contributions to Indian classical dance. In 2017, she was awarded the Scholarships to Young Artists in Bharatanatyam by the CCRT, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, empanelled her as a Bharatanatyam solo artist in the Indian Council For Cultural Relations (ICCR) in 2016. She is also a B Graded artiste at Doordarshan Kendra and an empanelled artist with Spicmacay. More recently, she received a Special Commendation from Narada Gana Sabha. As an educator, Ramya has been a teaching faculty member at Nrithyodaya for eight years, as of 2025, indicating she began teaching around 2017. Her performances include a Bharatanrityam recital at Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha in Chennai in January 2020 and a Bharatanrityam recital at Delhi Tamil Sangam in September 2016. She also co-conceptualized and visualized "Prakrti to Para, An Exploration of Sakthi" with Mahati Kannan, presented for Bharat Kalachar. Her primary base for performances and teaching appears to be Chennai, India.
