Ranjana Warier is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and choreographer, primarily recognized for her expertise in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam. Her artistic journey began at the tender age of six in Thirunavaya, a village nestled in Kerala, India, where she commenced her Bharatanatyam training under the tutelage of esteemed gurus Kalamandalam Devaki and Kalamandalam Indira. By the age of ten, she expanded her repertoire to include Mohiniyattam. Warier later established her base in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she founded and serves as the artistic director of the Rhythms School of Dance. Through her academy, Warier is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of India's rich classical dance traditions. The Rhythms School of Dance offers certified degree courses in Bharatanatyam, affiliated with the International Dance Council (at UNESCO) and the Alagappa Performing Arts Academy (APAA), ensuring a structured and authentic learning experience. Warier is highly regarded for her innovative approach to engaging and educating diverse audiences about Indian culture and traditions through dance, frequently undertaking cross-cultural collaborations. Her choreographic works have been commissioned by notable institutions, including the Florida Grand Opera, Miami Book Fair, Young at Art Museum, and History Miami Museum. A testament to her artistic versatility, she served as a choreographer for the Florida Grand Opera's production of "The Pearl Fishers" in 2015 and was an artist-in-residence at HistoryMiami Museum from September to November 2016. Her contributions to the arts have been recognized with several accolades, including being a two-time recipient of the prestigious Knight Foundation Arts Challenge, the title "Natya Chudamani" from the AAVGF Foundation, and four "Best Choreographer" awards at the Tampa India Fest. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Ranjana Warier holds an Engineering degree and a Master's degree in Computer Science, and she also works in the field of cybersecurity.
