🪔 About
Dr. Rashmi Rekha Das is a distinguished Indian classical Odissi dancer, academician, and researcher, widely recognized for her contributions to the art form and its integration with yoga. She serves as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator at the School of Performing Arts, Faculty of Arts and Communication, and Indic Studies at Sri Sri University, where she also founded the Performing Arts Department. An A-grade artist of Doordarshan, India's public service broadcaster, Dr. Das has been instrumental in promoting Odissi dance both nationally and internationally. Her career highlights include choreographing and organizing a monumental Odissi dance performance featuring 999 dancers at Sri Sri University in 2009. In 2016, she choreographed the 'Dashavatar' performance, which saw 1665 Odissi dancers participate at the World Cultural Festival in Delhi. Dr. Das is also a certified yoga trainer under the Ministry of AYUSH and has been teaching Odissi dance since 2010. She regularly conducts transformative yoga sessions that blend traditional yogic practices with holistic wellness techniques, and led large-scale yoga sessions during the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in 2025. Her work emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between Odissi dance and yoga, drawing from classical śāstric literature and modern pedagogical practices. She continues to guide students, preparing them for significant cultural performances. Awards & Honours: National Research Fellowship.
