Revital Carroll is an internationally acclaimed performer, teacher, and choreographer of classical Indian dance, specializing in the Odissi style. Born and raised in Israel, she developed a fascination with India and its spiritual arts from a young age. Her journey into Indian dance began in 1996, when she started studying traditional Odissi Dance in Odisha, India, under the tutelage of eminent gurus. Carroll's approach to Odissi integrates the spiritual and sensual, drawing inspiration from nature, the wisdom of the body, and India's rich spiritual heritage. In 2010, Revital Carroll founded the Shakti Bhakti School of Dance & Ensemble, which operates from Northern California, specifically Santa Cruz, and offers online dance education to students worldwide. Through her school, she provides comprehensive training, from foundational steps to advanced choreography, catering to both beginners and intermediate practitioners. She is the author of the "Mudras of India" paperback and the "Mudras of Indian Dance Card Deck," and has created several instructional DVDs and online courses, including "Temple Goddess Workout," "Odissi Dance Foundations," and "Odissi Dance Spins and Choreography." Beyond her contributions to Odissi dance, Carroll is a holistic wellness practitioner, incorporating elements from yoga, meditation, Taoist cultivation, Pilates, Qigong, and Zen-Shiatsu into her "Movement Medicine" system. She also works as a postpartum doula and wellness coach. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes a mind-body-spirit connection, guiding students to embody the grace and storytelling of Odissi while fostering self-awareness and spiritual centeredness.
