Rishika Mishra is an emerging Kathak artist representing the traditional Banaras Gharana. She hails from a distinguished lineage of Kathak dancers, being the granddaughter of the renowned Kathak Queen Sitara Devi and the daughter of world-renowned Kathak dancer Jayanti Mala. Rishika began her initial training in Kathak at the tender age of three, receiving tutelage from both her mother and grandmother. She is recognized for her exceptional command over the intricate mathematical calculations inherent in Kathak, a skill she mastered early in her career. Rishika Mishra's performances showcase a blend of tradition and modernity, characterized by her versatility in Abhinaya (expression) and laikari (rhythmic play), along with clear hand mudras and precise, neat chakkaras (spins). She has performed various styles of Kathak, including mythological temple styles, Tandav, and Mughal-style Darberi Nritya. Her repertoire includes Ekaki Nritya Natika and dance ballets based on themes like Sampoorna Ramayan, Geeta Updesh, Shiv Puraan, and Gayatri Mahima. Beyond performing, Rishika has also ventured into direction, having directed dance ballets for Bombay T.V. such as "Krisan Leela Dance" and "Maneka dance ballet," and is currently involved in dramas like "Great Amarapali" and "Vasant Sena."
