Dr. Roopa Ravindran is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, choreographer, educator, and researcher, proficient in both Kathak and Bharatanatyam. Her academic background includes a Master's degree in Bharatanatyam and a Bachelor's degree in Kathak and Choreography from Bangalore University. Demonstrating a deep commitment to her art form, she has also earned a Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) in Dance and Spirituality and is currently pursuing a PhD under Dr. Sheela Sridhar. Her extensive classical dance training includes rigorous instruction in Kathak under the tutelage of esteemed gurus Dr. Maya Rao and Pt. Rajendra Gangani. She completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram under the guidance of Guru Dr. Suparna Venkatesh. In 2011, Dr. Ravindran established EARTHA (Elements of ART and Heritage Academy) Charitable Trust, where she serves as the Founder and Chairperson. She also holds the position of Principal at EARTHA College of Performing Arts, an institution affiliated with Bengaluru City University. Through EARTHA, she aims to cultivate a modern Gurukul environment that harmoniously blends art, nature, and wisdom. Dr. Ravindran's contributions to the performing arts have been widely recognized. She is a Doordarshan Graded Artist and has been honored with a Governor's Award and a State-level Kathak Winner award. Additionally, she has received two national awards in performing arts, underscoring her significant achievements. Beyond her dance career, Dr. Ravindran has a background in acting, having appeared as a child artist in several Kannada films, including "Indradhanush," "Suryavamsha," "Kanasalu Neene Manasalu Neene," and "Deepavali." She also played the lead role in the art film "Dharma Yodharu." Committed to social service, she engages in voluntary work alongside her sister, Deepa Sangeeth, teaching Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and creative movement to visually impaired children at the Rakum School For The Blind in Indiranagar.
