Rosmarie Weber is a distinguished European Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher, renowned for her authentic portrayal and instruction of the classical Indian dance form. Hailing from the French part of Switzerland and growing up near Lucerne, Weber developed an early interest in art and foreign cultures, demonstrating musical talent in piano lessons and traveling extensively in India by the age of twenty. Her formal Bharatanatyam training commenced in 1987 under the tutelage of Vijaya Rao, with whom she lived in a Gurukula for two years, immersing herself in the traditional living and learning environment. After a six-year undergraduate program, she made her stage debut, known as Ranga Pravesha, in 1993, receiving high commendation from dance master and examiner Guru Shri Pathagudi S. Ramaswamy. Her dedication led her to accompany her teacher on numerous study trips to India, where she further deepened her knowledge of Indian singing and the South Indian language Kannada. In the autumn of 2010, Rosmarie Weber earned her diploma as a Bharatanatyam dance teacher and accompanist under Vijaya Rao. Weber is a founding member of the Nateschwara Dance Company, participating in significant events such as the opening of the Natya Anjali Dance Festival in Chidambaram, South India, in 1993. She has amassed extensive stage experience as both a solo dancer and a company member, performing across Europe and India, including various television appearances. Since 1995, she has been actively involved in numerous productions, including "Om Namah Shivaya," "Alaghar Kuravanji," "Jesus of Nazareth," and "Jaya Ganesha," continuing to participate in tours and performance series. In recognition of her profound dedication and charismatic stage presence, the Nateschwara Academy honored her with the title "Natyarupini" (Incarnation of Dance) in 2010. Alongside her full-time work at the ABB Dättwil Research Center, Rosmarie Weber continues to impart her knowledge by giving weekly Bharatanatyam classes at the Nateschwara Academy in Baden, Switzerland.
