Vithya Arasu is an eminent Indian classical dancer, teacher, and choreographer, primarily specializing in Bharatanatyam, Bharatanrityam, and Odissi. Based predominantly in Chennai, India, she holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Fine Arts. Her foundational training in Nritta Karanas of Natyasastra was under the esteemed guidance of Guru Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Guru Dr. Gayatri Kannan, and Guru Smt. Uma Sriram. She also received her initial Odissi training from Guru Kanchana, Guru Surupa Sen, Nrityagram, and Guru Bijayini Sathpathy. Expanding her artistic range, Vithya Arasu has also trained in Mohiniattam under Guru Vichitra Dinakaran, learned the basics of Vilasini Natyam from Guru Purva Dhanashree, Kathak from Barkha Patel and Eshani Sathe, and Kalari from Kalarigram, Pondicherry. Additionally, she has explored Balinese Dance and continues to receive training in Mayurbhanj Chhau under Guru Rakesh Sai Babu and Kandyan under Guru Shamitha Hettige. Her professional career includes serving as an Assistant Professor for dance for three years at Dr. MGR Janaki College, Chennai, and also as an Assistant Professor at Sastra University for Bachelors of Fine Arts. She further contributed to dance education by teaching Bharatanrityam for five years at Guru Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam's institution, Nrithyodaya. Since 2013, Vithya Arasu has been an integral part of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam's productions, performing extensively in India and abroad, and assisting in workshops conducted in India and Sri Lanka. She has presented lecture demonstrations on topics such as “Angika Abhinaya - Body movements as prescribed in the Natyasastra” at the Sangeet Natak Academy and showcased Odissi and Mohiniattam in "Karanas Decoded" sessions. As a dedicated educator, Vithya Arasu leads Natya Kala Vidyalaya, an institution that caters to students globally, where she implements a holistic approach to dance education. Her senior student, Abinaya, is also a faculty member at Natya Kala Vidyalaya and actively assists Vithya Arasu in conducting numerous dance workshops across the Indian subcontinent.
