Sahana Sridhar is a Bharatanatyam performer and educator based in London, United Kingdom. Her artistic journey began at a very young age, encompassing training in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic vocals, and painting. She commenced her Bharatanatyam training with Smt. Shankari Balasubramaniam, followed by three years of tutelage under Guru Udupi Laxminarayan until 2006. For nearly two decades, she trained under Sri. Renjith Babu and Smt. Vijna Vasudevan. Currently, she continues to refine her artistic pursuits in the UK under the guidance of Sri. Mavin Khoo. Her foundation has been further enriched by studying Navarasa Sadhana with Guru Venu G. and participating in intensive programs with the Akram Khan Company, led by Mavin Khoo, and with Malavika Sarukkai. With over a decade of performance experience, Sahana has established herself as a sensitive and skilled soloist, showcasing her work at prominent dance festivals and chamber concerts across India, the USA, Italy, and Spain. She has also been part of notable ensemble productions with organizations such as Sāraswatham Foundation in Chennai, Jiva Performing Arts in New York City, and Kalasagara in the UK. As an educator, Sahana has been actively teaching beginner and intermediate students since 2020. She leads residential intensives and conducts workshops in the UK, Spain, and Italy through Upahaar School of Dance, where she currently imparts Bharatanatyam training. Previously, she was a member of the teaching faculty at Sāraswatham Foundation in India. Sahana's contributions to the field have been recognized with accolades, including the Nrithavilasini award in 2015 and the Natya Ratna award in 2023. Beyond her dance career, Sahana holds a bachelor's degree in architecture and dual master's degrees in advanced architecture and urban design, considering her design education an essential aspect that informs her aesthetic sensibility and commitment to Bharatanatyam.
