Sangeetha Balachandar is a Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher, trained in the traditional Pandanallur Style. She began her dance journey at the age of six, studying under Guru Smt. Prabha Nagarajan and Guru Smt. Radha Srinivasan in Chennai, India. She also received Carnatic vocal training from Guru Mudikondan Krishnamoorthy and her mother, Smt. Umaparvathy Rajasekar. Sangeetha completed her arangetram at the age of 13. Her performance career includes numerous shows across India and the USA, at prestigious venues such as the Natyanjali dance festival in Chidambaram, the Ulaga Thamizh Manadu in Tanjore in 1997, and the Centenary Celebrations of Kanchi Paramacharya in Kanchipuram. She has also performed at sabhas like the Music Academy and Vani Mahal. After moving to the USA, Sangeetha began teaching dance in 2001. She served as the lead Bharatanatyam teacher at the School of Indian Traditional Arts (SITA) in New Jersey. In 2007, after relocating to Pennsylvania, she co-founded "Natyaswara," an Indian arts school in Chester Springs, with her husband, Balachandar, a renowned flutist. Natyaswara offers instruction in Bharatanatyam dance, Carnatic Vocal, and Carnatic Flute, aiming to propagate ancient Indian art forms and instill a strong work ethic in students. In 2017, Senator Andrew E. Dinniman from the Senate of Pennsylvania presented her with a Citation in recognition of her community work in promoting the art form to the next generation.
