Sanjay Kumar Joshi is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and actor, celebrated for his extensive training and performances across various classical dance forms. His artistic foundation includes rigorous training in Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, and Vilasini Natyam. Notably, Joshi holds the distinction of being the first male Vilasini Natyam dancer, having honed this particular art form under the esteemed guidance of Padmabhushan Swapnasundari Ji. His Kathak training was equally comprehensive, with tutelage from illustrious gurus such as Late Sri A.Y. Giri and Late Sri R. Gopal Rao. He further refined his Kathak skills under Padmashree Kumudini Lakhia at Nrityagram, Bangalore, and collaborated with Dr. Puru Dadheech of Indore to deepen his understanding of the Kathak style. Throughout his career, Sanjay Kumar Joshi has performed vividly on prestigious platforms both across India and internationally, showcasing his versatility as a performer and choreographer. His artistic endeavors extend beyond the stage to acting, where he played the lead role of Krishna in the Doordarshan television serial "Geeta Govindam" and the title role in the film "Rani." As a choreographer, he has created numerous dance dramas, including "Urvasi," "Yashodhara," "Madhushala," and "Sukha badh aur Raahat," which were presented for various causes, such as the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and events for South Central Railway. Based primarily in Hyderabad, India, Sanjay Kumar Joshi is also the founder and leader of the "Parampara Centre for Dance and Music." This institute, which marked its 20th anniversary in 2016, is predominantly recognized for its contributions to Kathak dance. While his institution and much of his public recognition are associated with Kathak, his foundational training in Kuchipudi is well-documented, and he is listed as a performer specializing in this classical dance form. He continues to be an active figure in the cultural landscape, currently serving with the South Central Railways in Secunderabad.
