Sarala Kumari is a distinguished Indian classical dancer specializing in Kuchipudi, a dance form originating from Andhra Pradesh, India. Her arangetram, a debut public performance, took place in 1977, marking the beginning of her extensive career. She gained significant recognition in 1985 for a remarkable 24-hour non-stop marathon dance performance held in Hyderabad. As a senior Kuchipudi artiste, Sarala Kumari founded the Natyasthal Kuchipudi Dance Studio, an institution dedicated to providing comprehensive dance instruction and performance experience for both children and adults. The studio, located in Hyderabad, India, aims to offer quality training and is committed to enrolling students from around the world, fostering a dynamic learning environment through diverse interactions. Sarala Kumari is also known for her innovative choreographic works, including the ballet "Mukthi Silpam." This production explores the origins of the Khajuraho temples, paying tribute to their heritage by capturing the sentiment behind their intricate carvings that blend spirituality and sensuality.
