Satyavani Iswara, born in New Delhi in 1969 to Pushpavalli and Suryakumar Bulusu, is a distinguished Indian classical dancer proficient in Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, and Mohiniattam. Her dance journey began at the age of four with Kuchipudi training under Guru Sri Vedantam Mallikarjuna Sarma, a member of the legendary Kuchipudi family. Later, in Baroda, she continued her training in Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, and Mohiniattam under Guru Mrs. Rema Shrikant. Iswara pursued higher education at M. S. University, Baroda, earning a Master of Performing Arts (M.P.A.) with a specialization in Bharatanatyam, where she was trained in the Kalakshetra style by Nritya Choodamani Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar. She also explored Ballet and Modern Dance during her university studies. Her academic pursuits included significant research on "Lesser Known Dance forms of Andhra," such as Andhra Natyam and Perini Siva Thandavam, for which she collaborated with Dr. Nataraja Ramakrishna. Throughout her career, Satyavani Iswara has performed extensively on national and international stages in cities like New Delhi, Baroda, Bombay, Hyderabad, Cleveland, Chicago, and St. Bonaventure, NY. She has taken lead roles in numerous dance dramas, including "Sri Krishna Leela," "Venkateshwara Kalyanam," and "Jayadeva`s Gita Govindam," and performed in ballets choreographed by her gurus. Beyond performing, she is recognized as a "fantabulous teacher" and contributed significantly to the Ellora Center for Performing Arts (ECPA), founded by her guru Mrs. Rema Shrikant, by nurturing young talent. Iswara is also noted as the first Indian Classical Dancer to achieve eminence as a Dance Movement Therapist. Her contributions to the Asian-Indian community were acknowledged by FICA, and her performances received special recognition at the Annual International Festival of Culture in Skokie, Illinois, in 1995 and 1996.
