Smt. Savithri Jagannatha Rao is a highly respected and accomplished guru in the field of Indian classical dance, particularly Bharatanatyam. Her journey in this art form began in the early 1950s at the esteemed Kalakshetra, a renowned institution for the preservation and promotion of Indian art and culture in Chennai, India. She is recognized as a senior teacher and a knowledgeable figure, having dedicated many years to learning and imparting the nuances of Bharatanatyam. Throughout her career, Savithri Jagannatha Rao has been actively involved in the dance community, participating in and conducting workshops. In 2009, she was one of the instructors for a Bharatanatyam workshop organized by the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana committee. Her expertise and dedication have earned her the admiration of many, including her students and fellow teachers. She is considered among the "evergreen gurus" and veterans of Kalakshetra, continuing to inspire and guide the next generation of dancers.
