Season Unnikrishnan is a dynamic Bharatanatyam artiste based in Chennai, India, known for his energetic and stylized movements and his ability to connect with audiences. Hailing from the Palakkad district of Kerala, his initial training in Bharatanatyam began under his paternal uncle, Shri Chittur Babu. He received the title of Kalapratibha from the Kerala District Youth Festival at a young age. After completing his schooling, Season joined the esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai, where he underwent rigorous training with eminent gurus and scholars. During his time at Kalakshetra, he also toured and performed as part of the Kalakshetra Foundation. Following his graduation, Season pursued advanced training under the tutelage of the renowned dancer and choreographer, Shri Sheejith Krishna. He was a core member of Sheejith Krishna's repertory, Sahrdaya Foundation, and played an integral role in dance productions such as Sadrshyam, Shiva Panchankam, Pravaha, and Don Quixote, touring extensively both within India and internationally. Since 2018, Season has been an active member of the internationally acclaimed Spanda Dance Company, led by the revered Bharatanatyam exponent, Padmashri Leela Samson, performing regularly and receiving invaluable guidance. He is also currently honing his skills under Shri Rakesh KP. As a soloist, Season has performed at prestigious festivals and sabhas including Krishna Gana Sabha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pallava Festival (Chennai), the Double Bill Concert Series at India International Centre (Delhi), and Mathry Festival (Trivandrum). His performances with celebrated dance companies have taken him to esteemed venues worldwide, such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai, the Konark Festival in Odisha, The Music Academy in Chennai, and the Esplanade in Singapore. He recently directed and presented a production called 'Dvitvam' in London, UK, which was well-received. Beyond performing, Season Unnikrishnan has been teaching Bharatanatyam for over a decade, with students training under him from across the globe. He runs his own creative space for Bharatanatyam training called Nirvana, with its main branch located in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. He is also an accomplished nattuvanar, choreographer, and stage designer, and has worked with Gowri Ramnarayan's JustUS Theatre Repertory as a dancer, actor, photographer, and a member of the set design and production team for projects like Sarpa Sutra, Flame of the Forest, Yashodhara, and Night's End.
