P. Senthilkumar is an Indian classical dancer, teacher, and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam. He hails from a small village in Tamil Nadu, India, the birthplace of Bharatanatyam. His initial passion for cinematic dance evolved into a dedicated pursuit of classical forms, leading him to undertake professional training at the esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation, Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts in Chennai, India. He successfully completed his studies, earning a Diploma of Fine Arts in Bharatanatyam. Upon graduating, Senthilkumar commenced his professional dance career, performing with several prominent dance companies across South India, including Arangham, Thejas, Anusham, Avigna, and Vipanchee. He also had the privilege of collaborating with and performing alongside senior artists such as Sri Narasimhachari, Krishnaveni Lakshmanan, Lakshmi Vishvanathan, Madurai R. Muralidharan, and Vyjayanthimala Bali. His repertoire during this period included classical, contemporary, and folk dance styles. In 2004, Senthilkumar established his own institution, Nritya Abharana - Institution of Dance, Music and Yoga, in Chennai, where he imparted knowledge of Bharatanatyam and dance theory. His career took an international turn in 2006 when he settled in Europe. He engaged with Western contemporary dance, notably working with choreographer Felix Ruckert and his company "Betwixt & Between" in Germany in 2007. He also showcased his artistry as a dancer at the "India - Guest in the Giant" exhibition held at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Austria. Currently based in Vienna and Burgenland, Austria, P. Senthilkumar continues to be an active performer and educator. He provides comprehensive dance training in Bharatanatyam for students of all levels, from beginners to professionals, including children. His teaching encompasses a wide range of subjects, including dance theory, choreography, nattuvangam, Carnatic vocal music, various Indian folk dances, Indian film dance (Bollywood and Kollywood), and Silambam, a traditional martial and folk art from Tamil Nadu. He also teaches yoga.
