Shankari Arulmani, known as Shanki, is an Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam, with additional training in Bollywood dance styles. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, she is a co-founder of the Dheem Dance Company alongside her sister, Janani Arulmani. Shankari's foundational training in Bharatanatyam, specifically the Vazhavoor Bani, began under Guru Suja Raghuram Manoj from 2006 to 2012. She continued her rigorous training from 2013 to 2018 with Smt. Anupama Mirle, under whose guidance she completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram. Throughout her career, Shankari has performed for various organizations, including the Greater Cincinnati Tamil Sangam, Narthanashala Dance Co., and NrityaArpana School of Performing Arts. She also competed as part of The University of Cincinnati's Premier Bollywood Fusion Dance Team, UC Dhadak, in 2020. Beyond performing, Shankari contributes to the dance community by organizing performances, curating lighting, and designing costumes. In her professional life, she works as a Financial Analyst. Through Dheem Dance Company, she and her sister aim to make dance accessible and give back to the community that fostered their passion.
