Shanti Sreedhar is an acclaimed Indian classical dancer, teacher, and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She is also recognized as a specialist in Nattuvangam, the art of synchronizing beats and steps. Sreedhar began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of four and has since become an award-winning performer. She holds the distinction of being recognized as a Category A dancer by the National Broadcast (Doordarshan) of India. Since 1996, Shanti Sreedhar has dedicated herself to teaching and choreographing Indian classical and folk dance, primarily based in Manila, Philippines. In 2013, she founded Natya Mandala, which is recognized as the first Indian Dance School in Manila. Through Natya Mandala, she has nurtured numerous students, including Filipino artists, some of whom have participated in Indian television dance shows. Her teaching extends beyond the Philippines, as she utilizes technology to train students in countries like Malaysia and Vietnam. Sreedhar has collaborated with prominent educational institutions in the Philippines, including the University of the Philippines College of Music, De La Salle University, and Ateneo de Manila, where she imparts classical and folk dance forms to bachelor's and master's students. She has also choreographed several cross-cultural productions in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and Arts Philippines (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines, earning an award for Best Choreography for the musical "Mga Kuwentong asyano." Her directorial and choreographic credits include productions like "Natyanjali," "Shanti Mantras," and "Chants of Peace." Natya Mandala's annual concerts, such as "Sadhana – A spiritual journey," "Vaibhavam – celebrating divinity," "Arpana," and "Nritya Manjari," are highly anticipated cultural events in the Philippines.
