Shaswati Basu (Founder - Aarambhik school of dance) has over 15 years of learning Kathak and has completed classical Dance Development Program from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, India under Guru Paresh Das. Even after 15+ years of learning Kathak Dance, Shaswati's zeal for knowledge and to learn more has not come down. She is continuing her training under her mentor Guru Pandita Archana Joglekar Ji. She is a highly reputed Kathak Dancer in the current generation.According to Shaswati, Kathak is a dance form in which the dancer feels free and is not bound to the floor in one place. It allows to be choreographed and designed by itself. She follows this principle in her teaching and choreography. Shaswati has moved to the US 10+ years back and since then she has been performing and choreographing at various dance related events in the Boston area. In 2016, she was one of the choreographers at a Fund Raiser event for the American Cancer Society. She has also been one of the judges in various dance competitions in the Boston aream.
