🪔 About

Shatabdi Mallik, an accomplished Odissi dancer, is recognized as one of the leading exponents of the dance form in the younger generation, particularly within the Guru Deba Prasad Das Gharana. Born to Shri Suhrid Mallik and Smt. Mamata Mallik, her journey in dance began at the tender age of four under the tutelage of Guru Gajendra Panda. In 1997, she became a dedicated disciple of Guru Shri Durga Charan Ranbir, a celebrated protégé of the late Dr. Deba Prasad Das, under whose guidance she blossomed into a front-ranking performer. Shatabdi continues to refine her art by regularly visiting her guru's gurukul in Bhubaneswar for training. Beyond her performing career, Shatabdi Mallik is a dedicated educator. In 2001, she established her own Odissi dance institution, Shatabdi Nrityayan, in Kolkata, fulfilling her mother's aspiration. Here, she imparts Odissi dance to numerous students of varying age groups, replicating the rigorous training she received from her gurus and mother. Her commitment to the art form has led to her empanelment as an artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) since 2010 and as a Graded Artist of Kolkata Doordarshan Kendra since September 2013. The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has also recognized her as a Research Fellow since July 2017 and an Empanelled Artist for Festivals of India Abroad since 2017. She has also served as a Dance Artist for SPIC MACAY since 2018. Currently, Shatabdi is serving as an Odissi Dance Teacher cum Performer at the Swami Vivekanand Cultural Centre in Paris, France, a position she commenced on March 25, 2026. She holds both Junior and Senior National Scholarships in Odissi dance. Awards & Honours: Junior National Scholarship, Senior National Scholarship, Research Fellow (2017).
