Shebana Devi Mangold is an acclaimed performer and teacher of Indian classical dance, specializing in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. Based in Berlin, Germany, she is recognized for her pure classical work and her role as an ambassador for Indian classical dance, bridging cultures through her art. Her extensive training in Bharatanatyam began in the Pandanallur style under Guru Rajyashree Ramesh at the Rajyashree Ramesh Academy for Performing Arts & Dance Theatre Productions in Berlin. From 2004 to 2007, she received intensive training in the Kalakshetra style from Guru Savithri Jagannatha Rao in Chennai, India, and earned her Diploma from the Institute Bharata Kalanjali in Chennai in 2011. She is also a senior disciple of the internationally renowned Bharatanatyam gurus, "The Dhananjayans". Shebana Devi Mangold's journey into Kuchipudi commenced in 2009, under the tutelage of the gifted dancer, choreographer, and teacher Sri Jaikishore Mosalikanti and his wife, Padmavani Mosalikanti. She performed her Kuchipudi Rangapravesam (solo stage debut) under Guru Jaikishore Mosalikanti in April 2012 in Chennai, India. Beyond dance, she also studied Carnatic music and Nattuvangam (rhythmic art of Naatya) under the eminent late Guru Bhagavatulu Seetharama Sarma of Kalapeetham, Chennai. Since summer 2012, Shebana Devi Mangold has been based in Berlin, where she teaches, conducts workshops, gives lecture demonstrations, and performs both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. With over 20 years of teaching experience, she founded Nātya Berlin – Dance School and Dance Company, where she trains students of all levels, ages, and nationalities in classical Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Carnatic music. Her dance company also presents group productions. She has a 20-year stage experience, with numerous solo and group performances in India and Germany, including at the Museum of Asian Art in Berlin, the Music Academy Madras in Chennai, the Natyanjali Festival at Chidambaram, and for the Indian Embassy Berlin.
