Shivani Karmarkar is a professional Indian classical Kathak dancer who underwent extensive training in Pune, India, for 18 years. She holds a master's degree in Kathak from Pune University, where she studied under the tutelage of Guru Shama Bhate at Nadroop. Additionally, she received lessons from Taalyogi Pt. Suresh Talwalkar. Her guru, Shama Bhateji, has lauded her as a highly talented, diligent, and hardworking student, expressing confidence that Karmarkar will achieve the status of a high-caliber classical dancer in India. Beyond her performances in India, Karmarkar-Schürfeld has showcased Kathak on international platforms in countries such as Australia, South Korea, and Qatar. She has also performed multiple times in Germany, notably at the Beethovenfest Bonn in 2018 alongside the Bundesjugendorchester and percussionist/composer Bernhard Schimpelsberger, and at the Global Media Forum in Bonn, organized by Deutsche Welle.
