Shreyashee Nag is an Indian classical Kathak dancer and choreographer, born in India into a family of musicians and teachers. She began her Kathak training at the age of four under the guidance of four eminent Kathak gurus in India. Nag has established herself as a significant figure in the Kathak dance scene, particularly in Barcelona, Spain, where she is currently based. Her artistic work often explores social themes, with a focus on gender stereotypes and social discrimination. She has choreographed and presented dance-theatre productions such as 'Chitrangada,' which addresses gender neutrality; 'Mera Desh: la nostra terra,' exploring cultural diversity; and 'Chandalika,' which tells the story of a socially marginalized Indian girl and her journey through love. Shreyashee Nag is the founder of Nupura, an official Kathak dance school in Barcelona, affiliated with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (London). She also founded "Hemantika," an international Kathak dance festival held at the Palau de la Música Catalana, with support from the Generalitat and the Indian Embassy. Her performance career includes appearances at international festivals such as Grec (Barcelona, 2018), Bipod (Lebanon, 2018), and the International Tanzstage Festival (Oldenburg, 2017). Nag has also collaborated with contemporary artists, participating as a dancer and singer in Sol Picó's production "We Women" and exploring fusions between Kathak and Flamenco.
