Shruti Gopal is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam. She serves as the Artistic Director of the Upadhye School of Dance, which she leads with her husband, Parshwanath Upadhye. Her dance journey began at an early age, with formal training under Natyarani Shantala awardee Smt. Padmini Ramachandran. She continues to refine her practice under the guidance of Shri Mavin Khoo. Gopal is recognized as a Doordarshan-graded Bharatanatyam dancer, a testament to her dedication and artistry in the field. She has performed extensively at major dance festivals both in India and internationally, showcasing the beauty of Bharatanatyam to diverse audiences. In 2011, she represented India in a Cultural Exchange Programme to China, organized by the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India. Throughout her career, Shruti Gopal has been celebrated for her innovative choreography and her ability to convey profound emotions through dance. She has been closely associated with the Punyah Dance Company and has collaborated with established choreographers and institutions, including Shri Vaibhav Arekar's Sankhya Dance Company for the production "And She Spoke." Her performances are not only a reflection of her technical prowess but also an embodiment of the stories and traditions that Bharatanatyam represents. She was conferred the title "Aarsha Kala Choodamani" by Swami Dayananda Saraswati in New Jersey in 2012.
