Shyamjith Kiran is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and educator, primarily known for his expertise in Bharatanatyam. He is often seen performing and teaching alongside his wife, Viraja Mandhre. Kiran completed his post-graduation in Bharatanatyam from the esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai in 2009, where he and Viraja both excelled in their diploma and post-diploma courses. During his time at Kalakshetra and subsequently, he was an integral part of the Kalakshetra repertory company, undertaking significant roles and touring extensively across the globe. He also served as a part-time faculty member at his alma mater. Kiran has had the invaluable experience of collaborating with legendary figures in the field, including the Dhananjayans and Leela Samson. Further expanding his classical repertoire, he also received training in Kathakali under Guru Sadanam Balakrishnan. Beyond Kalakshetra, Shyamjith Kiran has shared his knowledge by teaching at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society. As independent artists, Shyamjith and Viraja Mandhre perform, choreograph, and teach globally, having graced prestigious venues in cities such as New York, Paris, London, Singapore, and Chennai. They are empaneled with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and are graded artists with Doordarshan. Their critically acclaimed choreographic works include "Pareekshana," "Mudivil Oru Aarambam," "Svam," "Aham," "Rekha," "Eeram," and "Samaagati." Together, they co-founded the dance company Tridha, which aims to expand Bharatanatyam's presence in India, the US, and beyond. They continue to inspire the next generation of dancers, with students like Vidyuth Pasumarthi training under their guidance since 2019.
