🪔 About
Sibyl Sunitha is an Indian classical dancer, performer, teacher, and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam. She is recognized for her unique Vazhavoor style of Bharatanatyam. Sunitha received her training as a disciple of Guru Sneha Devanandan. Her artistic journey has also been influenced by Dr. Padma Subramanyam, from whom she learned a specific composition. In 2017, Sibyl Sunitha established the Tarak Dance Academy, an institution dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Bharatanatyam. As the founder and head of the academy, she imparts her knowledge and passion for the dance form to her students. Her choreographic works include pieces like "Eka- the first offering," which interprets the Alarippu as a dancer's initial steps into their artistic journey. Sunitha's performances feature a range of classical compositions. Notable among these are "Bhaje Vignarajam," an invocatory piece in praise of Lord Ganesha by Swami Dayananda Saraswati; "Devarnama - Adhigo Baruthihane," a composition by Guru Purandara Dasa; and "Padam: Varugalamo Ayya" by Gopalakrishna Bharathi. Her artistic philosophy emphasizes balance, awareness, and sustainability, allowing the dance to evolve while maintaining its traditional essence. She has showcased her work at events such as Natanotsava in 2021, where she presented "Bhaje Vignarajam".
