Dr. Siri Rama is a highly renowned Bharata Natyam and Kuchipudi dancer, teacher, and choreographer, based in both Singapore and Mumbai. Her extensive training in Bharata Natyam was under veteran gurus such as (Late) Komalavalli, K. Vijayalakshmi Krishnaswami, Ramaswami Bhagavathar, T V Sounderarajan, and T. Kadirvelu. For Kuchipudi, she received tutelage from the late maestro C.R. Acharyulu. Additionally, she acquired foundational knowledge in mridangam from Guru Jayalakshmi in Mumbai and studied Carnatic music (both practical and theory) under her mother, Sangeeta Vidushi Saroja Srinath. Throughout her career, Dr. Siri Rama has performed to critical acclaim, presented numerous group performances, and delivered lectures across various cities in India and internationally, including the USA, Germany, the Middle East, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. She is the founder-director of the Kanaka Sabha Performing Arts Centre in Mumbai, an institution that has been active for twenty-five years. Her teaching legacy includes training a large number of young dancers in Mumbai, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and she has choreographed and presented several solo and group dance performances based on both traditional and contemporary themes. Dr. Siri Rama holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Hong Kong, with Dr. Rajeshwari Ghose as her advisor. She also serves as Adjunct Faculty at Singapore Management University and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and is the president of the Singapore Chapter of the World Dance Alliance – Asia Pacific. She is the author of "Dance Divine: Dancing Deities of India" (2021) and has served as an adjudicator for the Singapore Youth Festival. She is also the founder-editor of www.kanakasabha.com, a global website dedicated to the appreciation of Indian classical dance forms.
