🪔 About

Sivaprasad Narayanan Namboodiri, popularly known as Sivaprasad NN, is a highly acclaimed Indian classical vocalist, composer, and music director, born on May 30, 1970, in Sreekrishnapuram village, Palghat district, Kerala, India. He hails from a family deeply rooted in performing arts, with his father, V.N. Narayanan Namboodiri, being a renowned Sopanam singer and Kathakali artist, and his uncle, Krishnan Namboodiri, a world-renowned artist and a founder member of IPTA. Sivaprasad NN received his foundational training in the Carnatic Vocal style from Shri K. Krishnan under the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara. He also gained expert training in the Sopanam style of music from his father. In 1983, he earned a diploma in Carnatic vocal music with distinction from The Lalitha Kalalaya, recognized by the Kerala Sangeeta Natak Academy. His understanding of dance was further shaped by Guru Ramaswamy Bhagavatar, who guided him on the nuances of Bharatanatyam and the art of providing appropriate musical accompaniment. His career began with a solo Carnatic concert at the age of nine at the Eswaramangalam Mahaganapathi temple in Kerala. Over four decades, Sivaprasad NN has become a prominent voice in Indian classical music, performing on All India Radio and Doordarshan. He is a sought-after lead vocalist for studio recordings and live performances of various classical dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Kathakali. He has accompanied numerous legendary gurus and artists across India and internationally, including Shri Kelucharan Mohapatra, Guru Ramaswamy Bhagavatar, Smt. Chitra Vishveshwaran, Shri Vempatti Chinnasatyam, and Dr. Sandhya Purecha. As a composer and music director, he has independently set music for literary adaptations for Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam productions, such as Kalidas's "Shakuntalam." He has also served as a faculty member at the Bharata College of Fine Arts & Research Centre in Dadar, Mumbai, and conducts personal classes for aspiring singers.
