🪔 About

Dr. Arundhati Singha John is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and educator specializing in the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam. Her journey in dance began at the age of four with Manipuri, before she commenced her Bharatanatyam training in Guwahati and later joined the prestigious Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai at the age of twelve. She further honed her artistic practice under eminent figures like Smt. Mallika Sarabhai and the late Smt. Mrinalini Sarabhai at the Darpana Performing Group in Gujarat, where she explored contemporary Indian dance and movement theatre. In addition to her classical dance training, Dr. Singha John also studied Kalaripayattu, the ancient martial art of Kerala, and acting at the Roshan Taneja School of Acting in Mumbai, which have collectively shaped her distinctive performance style, blending technical precision with expressive depth. Based in Kuwait, Dr. Singha John is the Artistic Director of Nritta Dhyana – The Academy for Performing Arts, an institution committed to classical dance education. Under her leadership, the academy nurtures students of all ages, guides numerous arangetrams in Kuwait and India, and implements structured curricula that balance tradition with contemporary relevance. She has performed extensively across India, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, and has choreographed and directed over 20 major productions. Dr. Singha John is also the innovator behind 'Kalbha,' a unique performing art form that harmoniously blends Bharatanatyam and Kalaripayattu, for which she has developed a comprehensive pedagogy and syllabus. Awards & Honours: Doctorate in Fine Arts (Bharatanatyam) (2026), Scholarship to pursue higher studies in Bharatanatyam (2004).
