Smt. Shobhitha Ravi is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in Pittsburgh, USA. She received her training in the Kancheepuram Ellappa Pillai style under Natyakalavathi Smt. Jaya Mani. She has also been guided by acclaimed Bharatanatyam artist Smt. Revathi Ramachandran in numerous productions and attended a residency workshop with renowned artist Kalaimamani Rama Vaidyanathan. In 2008, Shobhitha Ravi founded Natyakriya, an institution where she passionately teaches Bharatanatyam to students of all ages. She has performed across the United States and India, and has conducted lecture-demonstrations to promote understanding of Bharatanatyam within the Pittsburgh community. Beyond her academy, Shobhitha Ravi played an instrumental role in expanding the reach of Indian classical dance at the University of Pittsburgh. She led the university's classical dance team, Nrityamala, to a first-place victory at Laasya in 2011. She also served on the executive board for Laasya in 2012 and co-founded Dhirana, the University of Pittsburgh's first classical dance competition, serving as its Co-Director in 2013. She continues to serve as a judge for Dhirana annually since 2014. Known for her commitment to each student's learning journey, she inspires the next generation of dancers through disciplined instruction, creative choreography, and a joyful approach to the art form.
