V. Soumyasri is an accomplished exponent of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, holding a postgraduate degree in classical dance from Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, University of Mumbai, where she trained under the guidance of Padmashri Dr. Kanak Rele. She has also successfully cleared the UGC-NET (Lectureship) examination. Hailing from a family of traditional Kuchipudi gurus and exponents in Hyderabad, including Dr. Uma Rama Rao, Smt. Sumathy Kaushal, and Dr. Rajyalakshmi Seth, her dance training commenced at an early age. Soumyasri is the proud founder of Devmudraa Movement School, a premier cultural and performing arts institution and Trust established in 2007 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), which imparts training in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She has been actively involved in training students and choreographing for over fifteen years, promoting the culture of dance through participation, performance, perfection, preservation, and progress. Her career includes numerous performances at various festivals across India, and she has successfully conducted workshops and lecture-demonstrations, teaching students from different countries in Rishikesh and Mussoorie. Soumyasri is known for her unique choreographic ability, having choreographed many ballets and dance dramas in various classical, folk, and fusion styles. She has also contributed articles to prestigious journals and online dance magazines and has worked with spastic children using movement therapy, aiming to spread dance knowledge as an art, therapy, and education. She is also the organizer of the Samskriti classical dance festival, which ran for a decade from 2010 to 2019 and was revived in 2022/2023.
