Sowgandhika Krishnan is a versatile artist, choreographer, director, and entrepreneur based in Zurich, Switzerland, with a strong foundation in Indian classical dance. Her journey in dance began at the age of three and a half, leading her to train for twelve years in the Pandhanallur Bani (style) of Bharatanatyam under Guru Prasanna Nambiar. During her university years, she expanded her classical dance repertoire by training in Odissi under Guru Jhelum Paranjpe and also delved into theatre under Mr. Aadesh Bandekar. Krishnan moved to Switzerland in 2010 and produced her first dance theatre production in 2013. In 2017, she founded SKR Entertainment, an entertainment company based in Zurich, which she leads. The company produces dance theatre shows, organizes concerts, provides theatre-based corporate training, and produces films. She is the founder of SKR Entertainment and also leads its brands, Sowgandhika Krishnan & Ensemble and Lemon & Chillies. Her work involves scripting, choreographing, directing, and producing for theatre, with a focus on exploring Indian stories in a contemporary style with English dialogues. She has created nineteen productions, including nine full-length and short dance theatre productions and ten thematic productions, along with four short films. Beyond the stage, Krishnan's expertise extends to filmmaking, where she has worked as a choreographer for short films and as a First Assistant Director and Second Unit Director. Her maiden dance film, 'Speechless,' received a Special Mention Award at the Movie Screen Festival and was nominated for a Festival Award at the Seize the Film Festival. She is also involved in arts-based education and research, combining theatre and management concepts to design innovative corporate training programs.
