Sowmya Laxmi Narayanan is a prominent Bharatanatyam artist based in New Delhi, India, known for her rigorous technique and emotive storytelling. She began her journey in Bharatanatyam at the age of six and has dedicated 16 years to mastering the art form under the tutelage of Padmashri Geeta Chandran at Natya Vriksha. Her Arangetram, a significant milestone, took place in 2018 at the Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in New Delhi, marking eleven years of her dedication to Bharatanatyam. Sowmya is a Doordarshan-graded artiste and a recipient of the Ministry of Culture's Young Artist Scholarship in 2023. She is also an empanelled performer with SPIC MACAY. Her performances have graced prestigious stages including the Madras Music Academy's Spirit of Youth in 2024, Brahma Gana Sabha in 2023, and Delhi Tamil Sangam. As a key member of the Natya Vriksha Dance Collective, she has performed at renowned festivals such as the World Para-athletics Championship, Khajuraho Dance Festival, Nadaneerajanam Tirupati, and Konark Dance Festival. Beyond her solo career, Sowmya collaborates with her Guru in SPIC MACAY lecture demonstrations and contributes to teaching at Natya Vriksha. She also pursues a Master's in Sociology from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, New Delhi, while continuing her training in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music. She was honored with the title of 'Natya Shive' at Dancejathre in 2022.
