Sowmya Laxmi Narayanan is a prominent Bharatanatyam artist based in New Delhi, India, recognized for her rigorous technique and emotive storytelling. She commenced her Bharatanatyam training at the age of six and has dedicated 16 years to mastering the art form under the tutelage of Padmashri Geeta Chandran at Natya Vriksha. Her Arangetram, a significant debut performance, took place in 2018 at the Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in New Delhi. Narayanan is a Doordarshan-graded artiste and an empaneled performer with SPIC MACAY. She is also a key member of the Natya Vriksha Dance Collective, with whom she has performed at prestigious festivals such as the Doverlane Music Conference, Khajuraho Dance Festival, World Para-athletics Championship, Nadaneerajanam Tirupati, and Konark Dance Festival. Her solo performances include appearances at the Madras Music Academy's Spirit of Youth in 2024, Brahma Gana Sabha in 2023, Delhi Tamil Sangam, and a solo recital at Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi on October 10, 2025. She collaborates with her guru in SPIC MACAY lecture demonstrations and contributes to teaching at Natya Vriksha. Beyond her dance career, Sowmya Laxmi Narayanan is pursuing a Master's in Sociology from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, New Delhi, and also has a strong foundation in nattuvangam and vocal music.
