Sreelatha Vinod is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, teacher, and researcher specializing in Bharatanatyam. She is recognized as a gifted performer, teacher, and researcher, known for her optimism and arresting stage presence. Her early training began under Guru Tanjai Arunachalam Pillai, under whom she completed her arangetram at the tender age of eight. Following this, she continued her intensive training under the renowned V.P. and Shanta Dhananjayan at their institution, Bharata Kalanjali, where she studied on a scholarship for many years. Further refining her artistry, Sreelatha Vinod received specialized abhinaya training from Kalanidhi Narayanan and nattuvangam from Seetarama Sarma. Academically, she holds a Master's degree in History and Bharatanatyam, and a Ph.D. in Bharatanatyam from Tamil University, with her doctoral research focusing on 'Adavus - a study'. Throughout her career, Sreelatha Vinod has excelled as a performer, having choreographed over 25 thematic shows. She is a faculty member at Dr J Jayalalitha Music and Fine Arts University and serves as the Artistic Director of the Anthara Centre for Performing Arts, an institution she established. Driven by a desire to upgrade and reinvent the art form, she co-founded and serves as the managing trustee and president of Prayathnam, an association dedicated to fostering holistic learning in dance through master classes, workshops, and a structured syllabus that integrates theory and practice. Her commitment to both the practical and theoretical aspects of Bharatanatyam underscores her teaching philosophy, aiming to equip the next generation of dancers with a strong foundation.
