Shashank Iswara is an emerging Bharatanatyam dancer and a disciple of Guru Vani Iswara. He made his solo debut, known as an arangetram, in Bharatanatyam. Shashank has showcased his talent on significant platforms, including a notable performance at the 42nd Annual Battery Dance Festival in New York City in October 2023. During this festival, he performed in a Kathak-Bharatanatyam collaboration titled “Taraana” alongside Aliyah Banerjee. This duet explored themes of acceptance and coexistence by presenting two ancient Indian classical styles in harmony, without compromising their technical purity. Beyond his primary role as a dancer, Shashank Iswara also contributes as a percussionist, specifically playing rhythm pads for dance performances. He was featured in this capacity during a surprise dance composition for his guru Vani Iswara's 100th Arangetram in 2025. Currently, Shashank Iswara is a student at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the son of Vani Iswara and has a brother, Aditya Iswara, who is also a Bharatanatyam student and percussionist.
