Sridevi Gopinath is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer, performer, and teacher, who has been immersed in the art form for over 24 years. Her foundational training in Bharatanatyam began at the renowned dance institute “Shri Bharathakala Ashram” under the tutelage of Guru Shri K Gopinathan and Smt. Sunitha Gopinathan, who are senior disciples of Padmabhushan Prof. C. V Chandrasekhar and Smt. Jaya Chandrasekhar. She completed her Arangetram at the age of 15, solidifying her commitment to Bharatanatyam as her chosen profession. Sridevi furthered her academic pursuits by earning a Master's in Fine Arts specializing in Bharatanatyam from Bharathidasan University, India, guided by Dr. Maria Stella. Her diverse training also includes Mohiniyattam at “Dasyam” under Guru Smt. Gopika Varma, with whom she performed in various concerts and productions. Demonstrating a profound passion for Abhinaya (expressions/acting), she underwent intensive training with Guru G Venu, a Kuttiyattam and Kathakali exponent, and Smt. Ramya Harishankar, a senior disciple of Smt. Kalanidhi Mami. Sridevi Gopinath is the founder and leader of Sri Devi Arts, a Bharatanatyam dance school established in 2014, which adheres to the Kalakshetra style of teaching. Based in South Morang, Victoria, Australia, she actively teaches traditional Bharatanatyam. She has performed across India and Australia and has been an active member of ABHAI (Association for Bharathanatyam Artists of India), also serving as secretary of BAAVA (Bharathanatyam Acharya Association of Victoria, Australia) from 2020 to 2022.
